NMDA created the NEW MEXICO-Taste the Tradition® and NEW MEXICO-Grown with Tradition® logos to help New Mexico food and agricultural companies identify their products as being locally grown and/or locally made. You’ll find these logos on all things local, from nursery plants to restaurant menus to grocery store shelves across the state. The logos emphasize the rich traditions our food and agricultural products are steeped in.
The New Mexico Organic Farming Conference is set to occur on February 20-21, 2015, in Albuquerque, NM, at the Marriott Pyramid North. Over the years this conference has grown in size to become the largest agriculture-related conference in the state with its 800 participants. Session topics include creating an organic system plan, managing weeds and pests, selling to local retailers and schools, and more.
In New Mexico--
· There are 150 certified-organic farms, ranches, and other food and agricultural businesses.
· Last year, organic agriculture production and food processing in New Mexico brought in about $50 million.
